Godshill Inclosure: A Tranquil Woodland Haven in the New Forest

Godshill Inclosure forms a substantial block of mixed woodland on the northern edge of the New Forest, close to Fordingbridge. Planted primarily in the early 19th century, it features a blend of conifers and broadleaves that create shaded paths and open glades. Streams thread through the area, adding gentle water sounds to the rustle of leaves overhead.

Walkers often follow intersecting gravel tracks and narrower footpaths that wind uphill and down, offering mild elevation changes without steep climbs.

The inclosure connects easily to longer routes, including links to Castle Hill for panoramic views over the Avon Valley floodplain or extensions toward Millersford Bottom. Shorter loops stay entirely within the woods, making it suitable for varied outings.
